SPICES GROWN AREAS IN INDIA

 

Some main spices growing areas in India are Andhra Pradesh, Telangana ,Gujarat ,Rajasthan , Madhya pradesh,Kerala , tamil nadu.

The above mentioned states are the largest spice producing states of India. Other than these states there are more states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh , west Bengal etc.

India is the well known king of spices in the world , because of its types and varieties found in different regions and every region has its own speciality. India is very much famous for its export of spices across different parts of the world . Delivering the flavors and spice across the world .

Spices like red chilies, turmeric , coriander , cardamom, black pepper, cumin etc are being exported in huge quantities in different countries. Like china , bangladesh, thailand imports huge amounts of spices like red chillies, turmeric, cumin from india.

 

Various spices growing areas in India are;

ANDHRA PRADESH:

This region is the biggest producer and supplier of red chili in india. Districts like Guntur , Khammam, Warangal in Andhra pradesh produce the maximum amount of red chili. Andhra Pradesh exports the maximum amount of red chili to countries like China , Bangladesh , Thailand etc.

 

It also produces other spices turmeric, black pepper , coriander etc but not in much quantity like the red chili. These spices play an important role in our dishes hence giving flavor and spice to the food .

 

TELANGANA:

It is well known for its production of turmeric and supplies the maximum amount of turmeric after Maharashtra   in india. Districts like Nizamabad , Karimnagar produce the most amount of turmeric in the state. Turmeric is a well known spice which gives the color and taste to the food. Prevents infections and helps in internal healings of the human body too.

Other spices like dry coriander, red chilies,etc too are grown in Telangana.

 

GUJARAT:

 Spices like dry coriander seeds, cumin and red chilies are the most grown spices in this region. Gujarat is the largest producer of coriander and cumin in india. And the largest exporter of cumin seeds in India to the big countries like China, Bangladesh etc.

 

KERALA:

 Cardamom and black pepper both are the most famous spices grown in kerala . Cardamom is known as one of the most expensive spices because of their availability in limited quantities. Kerala produces about 60 to 65% of cardamom in India , and is the largest exporter of cardamom in India too . Black pepper is also produced in huge quantities in Kerala after Karnataka. Idukki district produces the most amount of cardamom in kerala. Black pepper is grown in districts like Wayanad and in Idukki too .

 

RAJASTHAN:

 It is also known for the production of coriander and cumin . Red chilies are also grown in this region but in limited areas and are grown in small quantities . The belt of Rajasthan doesn’t have too much water and rainfall that’s why the spices like coriander and cumin are grown in this region as they need limited water supplements.

 

MADHYA PRADESH:

 This state is the second largest producer of red chilies after andhra pradesh . It is also known as the “Mini Guntur” as it supplies red chilies in huge quantities like Guntur district. 

Madhya Pradesh is also known as the producer of coriander, fenugreek, mustard, garlic etc.
